A new family home in the Sandy Bay hills.  Our design satisfies our client's brief for a large multi-generational home, while responding to a steep wedge-shaped site located between suburbia and the bush.  The house is embedded in its place through careful articulation of 3 main elements - a base anchoring to the steep hillside, a dark wing retreating to the bush, a light box angled to address the street, approach and long views.  The elevated site provides incredible views of the River Derwent and distant hills while allowing all day sun into each level of the home.
