A private Cellar Door to serve her personally crafted, award winning wines is a life goal and dream for our client Sam Connew, owner of Stargazer Wines. Located 30 minutes drive from Hobart in the Coal River Valley the cellar door’s architecture is simple. The plan centres around a large table where Sam will serve her wine to 12 invited guests as they overlook her vines and the valley beyond.

The design responds to the brief for a simple, yet detailed and crafted building that at once has the atmosphere of a friend’s home and the presence of a refined shed in the rural landscape. A generous porch welcomes the guest at the end of their journey. A open log fire at the head of the table provides nourishing warmth and a simple sideboard for wine removes the commercial overtones of the cellar door.
